Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Access Bank Early Savers account for children: how it works

Who can have an Access Bank Early Savers account, who runs it, the documents, the interest Access Bank states and the withdrawal rule that protects it.

The short answer

Access Bank's Early Savers account is for children from birth to 18, including unborn children, and is opened and run by a parent or guardian in trust until the child is an adult. As at October 2026 Access Bank's page states an opening balance from ₦1,000, interest of 7.95% a year, and up to four withdrawals a month without losing interest.

A child's savings account is often the first financial product a Nigerian family opens for a new baby, sometimes before the child is born. Access Bank's version is called Early Savers. Its page is short, so this guide sets out what it says, how the account works in practice, and the questions worth asking before you choose it.

Who it is for and who controls it

Access Bank says the account is "designed especially for children" aged 0 to 18, "including unborn children". It is "opened and operated by parents (in trust) for their children till they become adults". In plain terms:

  • The child is the beneficiary; the money is held for them.
  • A parent or guardian signs, deposits and withdraws.
  • When the child reaches adulthood, the account is handed over to them. Ask the branch what the handover involves and which documents the young person will need then.

Because the parent operates the account, the parent's own identity documents and BVN are what the bank checks most closely.

Documents Access Bank asks for

For the parent or guardianFor the child
Completed account opening formBirth certificate or international passport
Valid ID: NIN, voter's card, international passport or driver's licenceOne passport photograph
BVNKYC details as the form requires
One passport photograph
Proof of residence
Tax Identification Number (TIN)

The TIN requirement surprises some parents. If you do not know yours, find it before you visit the branch. For an unborn child, ask the branch how the account is opened before a birth certificate exists and what it needs once the child is born.

Interest, balances and the withdrawal rule

As at October 2026, Access Bank's Early Savers page lists:

Opening balance
"as low as N1000"
Interest
7.95% per annum
Withdrawals
Four withdrawals a month without losing interest
Standing instructions
Allowed, so a fixed sum can move in regularly
Dividend warrants
Can be lodged in the child's name

Rates on savings accounts change, and the page does not say how interest is calculated (for example on the daily balance) or how often it is credited. Ask the branch, and check the current rate on the Access Bank page before you rely on it.

Worked example (example only)

Suppose a parent keeps an average of ₦200,000 in the account for a full year and the rate stays at 7.95% a year. Simple interest for the year would be ₦15,900 (₦200,000 x 7.95%), before any tax the bank deducts. If the parent makes a fifth withdrawal in one month, the page's wording suggests interest for that month may be lost, so plan withdrawals around the four-a-month rule.

Benefits Access Bank lists

  • Access to educational loans.
  • Membership of the Early Savers Financial Literacy Club.
  • Invitations to Early Savers events, career fairs and similar events.

The page does not set out the terms of the educational loans. Like any loan, any offer would come with its own amount, interest and repayment date, and you would decide whether to accept it.

Setting up automatic saving

Access Bank's page describes a standing instruction in its Access Mobile app: tap "Show All", then "Transfer", then "Scheduled Transfers", and add a transfer from your account to the child's. Pick a date just after salary arrives so the transfer does not fail.

Early Savers or savings in your own name?

Some parents ask whether a child's account is worth the paperwork when they could simply save in their own account. The difference is mostly about intention and control. Money in an account held in trust for a child is clearly the child's, which can help when relatives want to contribute and when the young person later takes over. Money in your own account remains yours, can be spent on anything, and is easier to dip into in a hard month. Neither is wrong. If the aim is a fund the child will eventually manage themselves, the trust structure fits; if the aim is a family buffer that happens to be earmarked for school, your own savings may be simpler. Either way, write down what the money is for and who can withdraw it.

What to check first

  1. Confirm the current interest rate and how it is calculated and paid.
  2. Ask what counts as a withdrawal for the four-a-month rule, including transfers.
  3. Ask what happens at 18: how the child takes over and which documents they need.
  4. Check whether any fees apply, such as for cards or statements.
  5. Keep the account details somewhere a second family member can find them.

Deposits in CBN-licensed banks are insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit; see NDIC deposit insurance limits. For a broader comparison, see fixed deposit vs savings account.

Where Pryme fits

Some parents prefer to keep a child's savings inside their own account, ring-fenced. Pryme's Savings Boxes (Naira only) come as Flexible, Fixed, Investment and Interest-free; rates are shown in the app. A Personal Assistant can remind you to top a Box up, but nothing moves without your approval; see the Personal Assistant.
